This volcano is the highest mountain in Ecuador Andes. It lies almost at equator. This means
it's summit is the most distant point counting from the centre of the Earth - it is more for about 2150 m than the top of Mount Everest.
Climbing Chimborazo is a hard work even for experienced adventures. Climbing difficulties
are not so high but long distance to the summit makes hard work for body and mind.
Despite good aclimatisation excellent stamina is needed to force 1300 m horizontally
starting from base (schelter) at 4800 and reach the summit at 6310 m
Usually it takes about 9-12 hours of climbing on neverending glaciers.
Generally to get to the top and down back it takes about 20 hours.
For sure it is good to take the effort and
stand on the most distant point from
the centre of the Earth. You have to
break the barrier of 20 000 feet.
Interesting it is that till half of
the XIX century Chimborazo
was thought to be the
highest in the
whole world.

Chimborazo - 6310 m n.p.m. The mountain's top is the most distant point counting from the centre of the planet Earth!
When you measure this distance for Mount Everest - it is much more shorter! ;)
